It was nurtured in the heart of our great founder, Shri Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja – a hard working philanthropist who laid the foundation of the National Hospital, way back in 1951. Today, the P. D. Hinduja National Hospital stands as a concrete testimony to the fulfilment of his dream.

Hinduja Hospital is an ultramodern multi specialty tertiary care hospital with a Medical Research Centre in collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Boston.

The hospital has an inpatient capacity of 342 beds inclusive of 53 critical care beds in different specialities. As a tertiary care hospital, the services offered are comprehensive covering investigation & diagnosis to therapy, surgery & post - operative care. The inpatient services are complemented with a day centre, out-patient facilities and an exclusive center for health check for executives.

Hinduja Hospital was the first multi disciplinary tertiary care hospital to have been awarded the prestigious ISO 9002 Certification from KEMA of Nethrelands for Quality Management System.

CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY IN DIAGNOSTICS

The diagnostic facilities offered by the hospital are comprehensive to include Laboratory services, Imaging, Cardiology, Neurology and Pulmonology.

Hinduja Hospital has fully automated Laboratory Medicine Department. The Laboratory services are available round the clock. The services include biochemistry, haematology, microbiology, serelogy, histopathology, transfusion medicine and RIA. The Laboratory offers over 500 different types of tests some of which are exclusive. The Laboratory also offers an emergency / Stat menu of tests with a very short turn around time. Stringent quality assurance exercises in the department of Laboratory Medicine ensures reliable and high quality and test results. The department participates in International Quality Control programme conducted by the College of American Pathologists, WHO & National Quality Control Programme where it has achieved and maintained a high ranking consistently for a number of years.

Imaging forms a key forms a part of the diagnostic facility at the hospital. The department offers a gamut of services ranging from General Radiography, Ultra Sonography, Mammography to high end services like Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Spiral CT Scanning, Digital Subtraction Angiography along with intervention procedures, Nuclear Imaging.

TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE

The hospital keeps upgrading its technology by acquiring new state-of-the-art diagnostic & therapeutic equipment. Hinduja Hospital was the first in India to acquire the Gamma Knife - gold standard in Radiosurgery, a non - invasive neurosurgical tool. The hospital was also the first to acquire the Holmium Laser in the country thus replacing the surgeon’s scalpel. In keeping with the quest for continuos improvement in quality and technological advancements, the hospital is the first to acquire The Twin Speed MRI, a revolutionary technology in the neuro and cardiology imaging. The Bone Mineral Densitometer (DEXA), is also an addition to the Imaging Department. The Oncology Services are wholistic & complete with installation of the Linear Accelerator with Multileaf Collimator (MLC) & Micro MLC. The Nuclear Medicine has also acquired the Gamma Camera / PET Scan which redefines treatment in cancer management, orthopaedics, neurology and cardiology. To enhance the specialised services in Non-Invasive Cardiology, the hospital has installed the GE - INNOVA 2000 Cath Lab machine for better visibility of blood vessels, in the procedures carried out. In support of the Nephrology services at the hospital, a new state of the art AKD department has been setup to provide the best of care for dialysis patients.

Research is an important activity of Hinduja Hospital. It is recognised as a Research Organisation by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. Various clinical research projects are carried out with the objective of improving medical practices. A Research Advisory Committee with eminent scientists and researchers from all parts of the country guide & give direction to the research programme.

The hospital is recognised by the Bombay University for M.Sc. and Ph.D in Applied Biology. The faculty members are recognised guides for M.Sc. and Ph.D, Bombay University.

The hospital is approved by the Diplomate National Board for specialisation in Urology, Nephrology, Nuclear Medicine & General Medicine, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gastroenterology, ENT, Opthalmology, Cardiology, Neurosurgery & Respiratory Medicine.
