The Hinduja Group is all set to revive its 1,040 mw, coal-fired, power plant project in Visakhapatnam, according to Praksh P Hinduja, who is based in Geneva and manages the group’s Amas Bank (Switzerland) Ltd.
The Hinduja group’s interests in India include truck major Ashok Leyland, Gulf Oil Corporation, Hinduja TMT and IndusInd Bank. The power project will be executed through the Hyderabad-based Gulf Oil Corporation.
“There is no problem with the license and its still valid. We are definitely going to be reviving the project,” stressed Mr Hinduja who was here to attend the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas. Sources say that they are meeting AP chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in this regard.
It may be recalled that former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao had laid the foundation for the project in August 1994.
